When everything's new - # the ordinary moments

Its so easy to forget how many experiences on a daily basis are all brand new to a baby.

How strange even the most normal of things must be to them as they try to figure out the world.  We are all so busy whizzing about in our day to day lives, but I wonder what our little ones think about it all as they try to digest everything and make sense of it all.

Whether its a new sensation, a smell or a skill they've mastered, like realising they can clap their hands together and it makes a noise or trying a new food for the first time.

I started wondering about all of this when I sat watching Charlotte take her first taste of a raspberry the other day.  I just placed a couple on her high chair tray and waited to see what she would do.

Cautiously she assessed the foreign object and then began to prod at it.  She then passed it from hand to hand, her eyes never leaving it.  She then squeezed it between two fingers and popped it up to her mouth.  Look at her little face...

She was a little unsure to start with but then started giggling away, and going by her face I think the raspberries ended up being a hit.

I'm so excited to watch her experience so many new things and see what she makes of it all.  How exciting the world must be to a baby.

I'm linking up with the lovely Katie from Mummy Daddy Me for 'The Ordinary Moments'.

  5. Lovely pictures, and it's true when you think how strange and new things must be to a baby. For some reason I always think of this when we go to the supermarket. For me, it's a chore but my 3 year old loves it. All those toys to look at and aisles to run around, like a giant playground! x
